Task (or Limited) Assignments can be a cost-effective alternative to a full field case management referral. Task assignments entail a one-time consultation by a Workers’ Compensation Medical Case Manager with the recovering worker, provider, employer. They can also be utilized to facilitate delivery of medical records for an upcoming medical evaluation.
This type of assignment is more limited in scope, and may be performed in conjunction with an in-house (at the insurer or TPA) telephonic case manager. In this role, the Task Case Manager functions as the in-person eyes and ears for the referral source, and can facilitate a discussion with a difficult to reach treatment provider or recovering worker.
