The URAC Accreditation Committee met on August 14, 2018 and reviewed the CompAlliance application for re-accreditation for Workers’ Compensation Utilization Management Version 7.3 Program.  The Accreditation Committee voted to grant CompAlliance FULL Accreditation pursuant to the Workers’ Compensation Utilization Management, Version 7.3 Program. This award is effective from September 1, 2018 to September 1, 2021.  We received our notification on Monday, August 20, 2018.  In the notification, URAC documented:

“Your organization is commended for its commitment to promoting quality health services by obtaining URAC accreditation.  Thank you for your cooperation throughout the accreditation process and for choosing URAC as your accrediting organization.”

CompAlliance remains a supporter of the need for URAC accreditation for companies performing Utilization Review/Management in the Workers’ Compensation arena. URAC accreditation ensures standards of practice, current and updated Utilization Review practices, and evidence-based approaches are integrated into a company’s policies and procedures. It provides the tools and guidance to implement and integrate these initiatives into the Utilization Management Product.

While we at CompAlliance truly believe this accreditation verified the excellence with which we were already performing Utilization management, it also served a very useful purpose at the same time.  It ensures we as a company review all policies, procedures, etc. with a very critical eye, and ensure the services we perform are based on current best practices.

URAC Accreditation is a Consumer Based Accreditation

When working with the workers’ compensation industry we can point to the fact that this is a consumer-based accreditation, and as such our goal is always to work towards mutually beneficial approaches to goal-directed facilitation of care for the injured worker.
